£30.00

A handmade steel vinyl record rack designed to keep album artwork visible and make your collection easy to browse.

The open, minimalist frame holds records upright without hiding the sleeves. Smaller sizes work well for a current listening selection, while the wider versions provide practical storage for a larger collection.

Each rack is approximately 21 cm high × 20 cm deep and is available in top widths of 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm or 40 cm. The base is approximately 10 cm narrower than the selected top width, creating subtly angled sides.

Choose from the available powder-coated colours. Custom dimensions, vertical ends and adapted versions for displaying books can also be made on request.

Estimated delivery

Made to order in up to 7 working days. Courier delivery usually takes a further 2–4 working days, giving an estimated delivery window of 9–11 working days from ordering.

Returns

This product is made to your individual specifications or customised for your order, so the usual change-of-mind return right does not apply.

Please check your measurements and customisation details carefully before ordering. If you are unsure about anything, please contact me and I will be happy to help before the item is made.

This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described. Please see the Terms & conditions for full details.

Dimensions and shape

Standard dimensions:

  • Height: approximately 21 cm
  • Depth: approximately 20 cm
  • Available top widths: 20 cm, 25 cm, 30 cm, 35 cm or 40 cm

The base is approximately 10 cm narrower than the selected top width. This gives the sides a subtle outward angle of approximately 110° and keeps the records easy to see and browse.

For example, the 40 cm version has a top width of approximately 40 cm and a base width of approximately 30 cm. The product photographs show the 40 cm version.

Vertical ends can also be made as a custom alteration.

Choosing a size and record capacity

Choose the rack width according to the size of the collection you want to keep together and how much room you would like for browsing.

Record sleeves vary considerably in thickness. Standard sleeves are often around 3–4 mm thick, while gatefold albums and protective outer sleeves require more space.

Approximate capacities:

  • 20 cm top width, 10 cm base: approximately 25–30 records
  • 25 cm top width, 15 cm base: approximately 35–45 records
  • 30 cm top width, 20 cm base: approximately 50–60 records
  • 35 cm top width, 25 cm base: approximately 60–75 records
  • 40 cm top width, 30 cm base: approximately 75–90 records

These figures are a guide rather than a guaranteed capacity. Thick sleeves, gatefold albums and protective covers will reduce the number that fits.

The smaller racks work well for a current listening selection, while the larger sizes provide more substantial record storage.

Using the rack

The open frame keeps album artwork visible and allows records to be browsed or flicked through, without removing the whole collection from the rack.

Place the rack on a level, stable surface. Avoid forcing too many records into the frame.

Keep vinyl away from strong heat, direct sunlight and damp conditions. When moving a loaded rack, remove the records first and reposition the empty stand.

Custom dimensions and alternative uses

The rack can be made to different dimensions where the standard sizes do not suit your collection or available space.

The angled ends can also be changed to vertical ends, and the design can be adapted for storing or displaying books and other similarly sized items.

Before contacting me, note the overall width you need, the available surface space and the approximate size and quantity of the items the rack will hold. Photographs are helpful where the intended use is unusual.

Changes to the dimensions or construction may affect the proportions, capacity and price. Contact me before ordering so I can confirm what is practical and create a custom listing where required.

Colours and custom colours

Standard colours are Black, White, Dark Green, Light Green, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow and Pink.

Please contact me for a RAL reference for any particular colour. Colours can look slightly different on screen depending on the device and lighting.

For a colour that is not listed, contact me before ordering. A custom powder colour normally has a setup charge of approximately £15–£20, depending on the finish.

Multiple items in the same custom colour incur one setup charge rather than a separate charge for every item.

Care and cleaning

No routine maintenance is required. Clean with water or a damp cloth and avoid abrasive pads, powders or harsh scrubbing that could mark the powder-coated finish.

Outdoor pieces can be wiped clean as required. Damage that exposes bare steel should be touched in to reduce local rusting.
