Stained Glass Frame - Fire Screen

A custom-made freestanding steel frame created to support and display stained-glass artwork while keeping the surrounding metalwork visually restrained.
The original design uses a slim steel channel to contain the glass panel, joined to curved supporting legs that form a stable base. The frame is finished in black powder coating so the stained glass remains the main visual element.
Each frame is individually designed around the dimensions, weight and edge construction of its stained-glass panel. This is a commissioned product rather than a standard-size item.
The frame is intended as a stained-glass display structure. It has not been tested or certified as a fire guard, spark screen or heat-protection product.

Frame design
The steel channel securely contains the stained-glass panel while the curved legs create a stable freestanding base.
The visible metal profile is intentionally restrained so the stained glass remains the main visual element.
Each frame must be designed around the dimensions, weight and edge construction of the individual glass panel.
Commissioning a custom frame
These frames are made individually around a specific stained-glass panel rather than produced in standard sizes.
To discuss a frame, provide:
- The overall height, width and thickness of the stained-glass panel
- The approximate weight
- Clear photographs of the front, back and panel edges
- Details of any existing lead, zinc or other perimeter construction
- The intended position and available floor space
The final channel size, supporting structure and proportions will be agreed around the individual artwork.
Placement and intended use
This product is a custom steel display frame designed to support and present a stained-glass panel.
It has not been tested or certified as a fire guard, spark screen or heat-protection product. Suitability for use near a working fire, stove or other heat source must be assessed separately for the particular glass panel, fireplace and installation.
Place the completed frame on a level, stable surface where it cannot be easily knocked or tipped. Keep it away from direct flame, sparks and excessive heat unless the complete installation has been confirmed as suitable by an appropriately qualified person.
Steel finish and care
The original frame design was finished in black powder-coated steel to create a restrained border around the stained glass.
Clean the steel frame with a soft, slightly damp cloth and dry it afterwards. Avoid abrasive pads, wire brushes and harsh chemical cleaners that could damage the powder-coated finish.
Clean the stained glass separately using methods recommended by the glass artist. Avoid allowing cleaning products to collect inside the steel channel.
