Rustic Metal Fern Sculptures
A handcrafted steel fern sculpture made with six individually cut and shaped leaves. The open arrangement brings height, natural form and gentle movement to borders, courtyards and planted areas.
Each fern leaf is shaped by hand, so every piece has its own leaf positions and character.
The leaves can move slightly in the breeze and can be adjusted by hand to suit the space where the sculpture will be displayed.
Choose either a developed Rusted finish or Ready to Rust bare steel that will weather naturally outdoors.
Ground pegs are supplied as standard, with screw lugs or alternative bases available by arrangement for harder surfaces.
The fern works in rustic, natural or contemporary gardens and makes a distinctive long-lasting gift for gardeners and nature lovers.
Estimated delivery
Made to order in up to 12 working days. Courier delivery usually takes a further 2–4 working days, giving an estimated delivery window of 14–16 working days from ordering.
Returns
This product can be returned if you change your mind.
Please let me know within 14 days of receiving your order if you would like to return it. You then have a further 14 days to send it back.

Your statutory rights are not affected if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.
Dimensions and shaping
Each sculpture has six individually cut and hand-shaped fern leaves.
- Small: approximately 55 cm high × 30 cm wide × 30 cm deep
- Large: approximately 100 cm high × 40 cm wide × 40 cm deep
Because each sculpture is shaped by hand, finished measurements may vary by approximately 1 cm.
The stems and leaves can be bent by strong hands to make adjustments to the shape and layout. Make adjustments gradually so the leaves can be arranged to suit the position where the sculpture will be displayed.
Positioning and fixing
Ground pegs are supplied as standard for anchoring the sculpture securely in soil, borders or lawns.
Push the pegs firmly into suitable ground and check that the sculpture is stable before leaving it in position.
For fixing onto timber, paving or masonry, three welded screw lugs can be added on request. Suitable screws or fixings should be chosen for the surface.
Alternative base arrangements can also be made where the standard ground pegs are unsuitable. Contact me before ordering with details of the surface and intended position.
Finish and natural weathering
Choose between a developed rust finish or clean bare steel that will develop its own patina outdoors.
Rusted ferns arrive with an established natural rust finish. Ready to Rust ferns arrive freshly made in clean bare steel and will begin weathering naturally once placed outside.
The photographs show ferns after approximately four to five months outdoors in Norfolk.
To encourage rusting, lightly mist the steel with salty water and allow it to dry outdoors. Repeat as required until the colour develops.
To slow further weathering, rinse away any salt residue, allow the sculpture to dry and apply a thin coat of linseed oil or Danish oil. Cooking oil can also be used.
Additional coats provide greater protection but will darken and soften the appearance of the patina. The rusted ferns shown in the photographs have no oil applied and will continue to evolve naturally.
Each fern is individually cut, shaped, welded and finished by hand, so slight differences in leaf shape, posture, surface texture and patina are part of its character.

Where a customisation box is shown, use it for straightforward instructions that do not change the basic product, such as peg positions on plant stands, small clearance changes or additional information about your requirement.
