Hairpin Metal Plant Stands
A handmade hairpin-leg plant stand built from solid 6 mm steel bar. The open, minimal frame raises a plant from the floor without visually crowding it and works in both indoor rooms and outdoor patio spaces.
Choose the stand height, internal diameter and colour to suit the pot and the position where it will be used. Standard options cover heights from 30 cm to 70 cm and diameters from 12 cm to 30 cm.
The stand is powder coated for a durable, easy-care finish. Straight-sided pots need support pegs; tapered pots can sit within the stand at the point where the pot widens to the selected diameter.
For tall stands, large diameters or heavy pots, extra links between the legs can be added to improve stability. Contact me before ordering for pots over 10 kg.
Estimated delivery
Made to order in up to 7 working days. Courier delivery usually takes a further 2–4 working days, giving an estimated delivery window of 9–11 working days from ordering.
Returns
This product is made to your individual specifications or customised for your order, so the usual change-of-mind return right does not apply.
Please check your measurements and customisation details carefully before ordering. If you are unsure about anything, please contact me and I will be happy to help before the item is made.
This does not affect your statutory rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described. Please see the Terms & conditions for full details.
Measuring guide
Choosing the right size is essential since each stand is made to the measurements selected. I highly recommend measuring the pot first, then choosing the stand size to ensure a perfect match.
Tapered pots: measure the circumference of the pot at the point where the stand will support it. If you do not have a flexible tape measure, wrap a piece of string around the pot and measure the string. Divide the circumference by 3.14 to calculate the diameter. Measure twice before choosing the stand size.
Straight-sided pots: these need support pegs because the sides do not widen and rest naturally in the stand. Choose a stand approximately 1 cm larger than the pot diameter for a comfortable fit. The standard peg position is one third of the stand diameter down from the top.
Where the pot shape or measurement is unclear, please contact me before ordering.
Customisation examples
Use the customisation box for simple changes that do not require a separate quotation.
Helpful examples include:
- Add pegs 5 cm down inside the stand
- Pegs 10 cm down from top
- Add leg supports 10 cm down for heavy pot
Straight-sided pots need support pegs because the sides do not widen and rest naturally within the stand.
Choose a stand approximately 1 cm larger than the pot diameter so the pot can be placed into and removed from the stand comfortably.
Support pegs can also be used where you want a pot to sit at a particular height. For a changed structure or a more complex requirement, contact me before ordering.
Heavy pots and extra stability
Tall stands, larger diameters and heavier pots place greater demands on the frame.
Stability can be increased by adding connecting links across the legs. These are particularly useful for tall stands, wide pots or heavier planters.
For pots weighing more than approximately 10 kg, or where the stand will be unusually tall or large, contact me before ordering so I can confirm the most suitable construction.
Please include the pot diameter, pot height, approximate filled weight and the required stand height. A photograph is also helpful where the pot has an unusual shape.
Colours and custom colours
Standard colours are Black, White, Dark Green, Light Green, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Red, Orange, Yellow and Pink.
Please contact me for a RAL reference for any particular colour. Colours can look slightly different on screen depending on the device and lighting.
For a colour that is not listed, contact me before ordering. A custom powder colour normally has a setup charge of approximately £15–£20, depending on the finish.
Multiple items in the same custom colour incur one setup charge rather than a separate charge for every item.
Care and cleaning
No routine maintenance is required. Clean with water or a damp cloth and avoid abrasive pads, powders or harsh scrubbing that could mark the powder-coated finish.
Outdoor pieces can be wiped clean as required. Damage that exposes bare steel should be touched in to reduce local rusting.
